TOWNSEND: ROY THE MAN TO SAVE UNITED
Irish Daily Star
|March 25, 2025
ANDY Townsend reckons former midfield partner Roy Keane's days in management are over.
Townsend, who shared an Ireland dressing room with Keane for six years between 1991 and 1997, is convinced Keane has what it takes to return to management. It is 14 years since he was last in a job as a No.1, his Ipswich experience proving less successful than his previous stint in charge of Sunderland.
But Townsend fears he won't ever return to the dug-out, even though the former Chelsea ace IS convinced Keane would be the man to sort out the mess at Old Trafford.
"When Erik ten Hag left Manchester United, Roy Keane would've been a voice to come in and to pick the supporters up who were so low at that point, the United fans," said Townsend in an interview with https://www.olbg. com. "I think he would have been great at that. I genuinely feel he could have done that. Of course, people always go: 'No you'll fall out with everyone.'
