'Stamp out drug scourge in our town

A DEMAND for an emergency Garda taskforce to dismantle drug-related crime in Edenderry has been issued in the Dáil, as a vigil last night took place to highlight the scourge of drugs in the town.

Fianna Fáil TD for Offaly Tony McCormack said the “horrific” killings had devastated the community and underscored the need for a stronger, more visible policing presence.

He urged the Minister for Justice to immediately establish a dedicated Garda operation in Edenderry to “dismantle the drug gangs operating in the town.”

“People deserve to feel safe in their own homes,” Deputy McCormack said.

“They deserve to sit in their living rooms and watch television without fear. We need to act now to ensure that a callous crime like this can never happen again.”
