Much anticipated follow-up to classic debut album proved to be a roaring success

SO how do you follow one of the finest albums of a generation? The so-called difficult second album syndrome? Not a bit of it.
Recorded at Rockfield Studios, with Owen Morris at the production wheel, (What's The Story) Morning Glory? is the biggest selling Oasis album, racking up 22 million copies across the world, with 268,554 sold in the UK in the first week alone and a million within 10 weeks.
Morris, in 2010, said: “The sessions were the best, easiest, least fraught, most happily creative time I've ever had in a recording studio. I believe people can feel and hear when music is dishonest and motivated by the wrong reasons. Morning Glory, for all its imperfection and flaws, is dripping with love and happiness.”
Was this album the pinnacle of Oasis? It moved away from the grit and swagger of Definitely Maybe, introducing a more balanced and processed studio recording process, away from the ‘live’ feel they demanded with their debut.
Drummer Tony McCarroll had by now been replaced by Alan White.
They tended to record a song a day in South Wales and it was all going well until the volatile nature of brotherly love reared its drunken head.
In the first five days they recorded Roll With It, Hello, Wonderwall, Don't Look Back In Anger and Champagne Supernova.
