IF YOU tuned in late you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a cup clash for the ages, with St Patrick's advancing to the semis ahead of a heroic Galway effort.

And if you sat through the first 80 dreadful minutes, then the final 10 and the extra 30 were a just reward.

We had a red card, a Chris Forrester special, saves, missed chances, deflections, woodwork - it's hard to believe that the two teams that started this one were the same that finished it.

Maybe it was the action from the bench, where Pat's made six subs and Galway seven, that unlocked this one.

Jake Mulraney opened the scoring with his third of the season, while Galway’'s David Hurley and Saints pair Forrester and Jordon Garrick also got on the scoresheet.
