The Dublin Simon Community has launched its 42nd Annual 5km Home Run in the capital's Phoenix Park.

Simon says join us for a charity run

The event is expected to draw thousands of runners and walkers as they embark on a 5km loop on Saturday, October 4.

Vital funds will be raised for a very worthwhile cause, as homelessness figures reach record levels here.

This year, Dublin Simon is asking participants to treat their entry fee as just the beginning, as they attempt to address rapidly rising homeless numbers.

By starting fundraising efforts early, supporters can maximise their impact and help deliver even greater support to those who need it most.

The charity is asking anyone who chooses to fundraise to aim to raise €100 or more — and there are incentives to build up as big a pot as possible.

Once fundraisers reach €50, they will receive a limited-edition Home Run souvenir T-shirt, which is also available to buy for €15.

More advice on how to fundraise is available on the Dublin Simon website.
