RYDER RASMUS BUT LOWRY NEEDS CALL

RASMUS Hojgaard has qualified for his debut Ryder Cup after a tough final round in the British Masters — leaving Shane Lowry requiring another wildcard pick.

With the event acting as the cutoff mark for points for European team qualification, the Dane was cruising into the last automatic spot on the back of three opening birdies in his final round.

But he followed up with four bogeys and just one birdie in his next eight holes and had to dig deep to prevent the wheels falling off at The Belfry.

Hojgaard (below) acknowledged before the tournament that he was not guaranteed a captain's pick from Luke Donald.
