Bot cuts out gallbladder on its own... with all the precision of human doctor
A ROBOT has removed a gallbladder on its own in the first such major surgery by a machine.
It cut out the organ on a lifelike patient with 100% accuracy and the expertise of a human surgeon.
The bot uses the AI learning architecture that powers ChatGPT.
US experts watched as it grasped voice commands from the team, like a novice surgeon with a mentor.
It responded to orders such as “grab the gallbladder head” and “move the left arm a bit to the left”.
Associate professor Axel Krieger said of the breakthrough: "This shows it’s possible to perform complex surgical procedures autonomously.”
