Robertson's stinging assessment of Reds' failure to follow plan against busy Bees

ANDY ROBERTSON has admitted Liverpool failed to follow their gameplan in a brutally honest analysis of this defeat.

- BY THEO SQUIRES and PAUL GORST

After returning to winning ways in the Champions League against Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday, Arne Slot’s side were brought crashing back down to earth.

And Robertson conceded the Reds had been “nowhere near good enough” as their Premier League losing run stretched to four games.

“We didn't do enough off the ball,’ said the Scotland skipper. “On the ball, first half I thought we created a couple of moments, kept the ball quite nicely.

“But you can't come to Brentford away and just expect to play them off the park, because they are always going to be ready to fight.

“They're always going to be ready to put bodies in the box when it comes to set pieces, putting the balls in behind, picking up second balls. You have to fight for control. No team in the Premier League, nobody's going to go, ‘On you go, you take the ball, we'll try and defend’. Nobody does that.

“They always have a gameplan, against us and every team.
