Healy giving it everything as he stays in yellow jersey
BEN Healy held on to the yellow jersey after an action-packed day at the Tour de France.
The Irish rider remains 29 seconds ahead of Tadej Pogacar, who suffered a dramatic fall late in the stage.
But Pogacar's fall ultimately proved not to be costly as the group allowed the 2024 winner to catch up.
Third-in-the-overall-standings Remco Evenepoel is now a minute and 29 seconds behind, with fourth-placed Jonas Vingegaard another 17 seconds back.
“It was pretty stressful. The team did a super job, even when I missed a split early on. From then on we were on the ball the whole day,’ said Healy.
“There were a few attacks near the end, but I was able to stay with the group. I'm really happy that I have managed to hold on to yellow for another day.”
Healy's parents had flown in for the stage which started and finished in Toulouse and he cut a dash on the starting line with a denim jacket that said, ‘Leader of the pack’ on the back.
