Garda officers forced to jump out of way of speeding car and give pursuit
A REAL IRA bomber who drove at speed at two gardai at a checkpoint - forcing them to jump out of his way has been given a threeyear suspended sentence.
The court heard Aiden Hulme 'went wild and was out of control' following his sudden release from prison when the incident took place.
Judge Dara Hayes told Hulme, 48, it was "inevitable he is facing a custodial sentence" but that an immediate custodial sentence is not required.
The judge suspended the three-year sentence for three years, noting that Hulme is now the carer of his partner of seven years, after she suffered a serious medical issue last year.
The judge also said Hulme hasn't come to Garda attention since and that he is the victim of a significant injury where he had his leg amputated in a motorbike accident.
