MIKEL ARTETA is ready to unleash the latest breed of Arsenal Hale End wonderkids after Max Dowman led his academy pals to a 1-0 preseason win.

- NICK CALLOW in Singapore

Dowman is the player the fans are going crazy over, but he is not the only one coming through the ranks.

The 15-year-old will steal the headlines but boss Arteta is just as keen to promote Marli Salmon, also 15 and being dubbed the ‘next William Saliba’.

Dowman and Salmon both came on midway through the second half in this first tour match.

Arteta said: “I am very happy with all the kids. They are able to play at that level at 15 years old because of the environment and culture that is within the team."

On Dowman, he added: “When somebody makes you feel so comfortable and so confident straightaway you can go and do it.
