'UK Govt's ban bid made our band huge'
THE Alice Cooper band was one of the most shocking groups of the 70s - and Alice Cooper says UK MPs trying to ban his band was "the best thing" they could do.
Now, more than 50 years after the release of their last album, Muscle Of Love (1973), the band fronted by Alice Cooper, who has released tens of solo albums under the same name, are back with a new album The Revenge Of Alice Cooper.
The record picks up exactly where they left off, with singles Black Mamba and Wild Ones featuring a guitar sound transported straight from the 1970s into the present day, which with MPs trying to ban groups such as Kneecap and Bob Vylan may seem familiar to them.
Along with their stage act, which reportedly saw toy babies being impaled on guitars, the band's songs such as Dead Babies, Raped And Freezin' and I Love The Dead attracted the attention of Labour MP Leo Abse in the 1970s, who tried to stop the group performing in the UK.
