AFTER suffering a broken jaw and cheekbone in two separate incidents, Tipperary star Jake Morris was left drinking smoothies for dinner for weeks.

The 25-year-old Financial Advisor with SYS Financial in Nenagh says that while everyone wants a physical game, head-high tackles have to be clamped down on.

In recent weeks the GAA have adopted a no-nonsense approach to any contact around the head, be it with the shoulder or hurl.

Morris was part of the Tipp side that defeated Kilkenny last month in a Division 1A tie where the Cats shipped three red cards and were reduced to 12 men, while Tipp went down to 14.

Some critics believe too much of the physicality is being taken out of the game, but Morris' experience shows the very real human impact that head-high tackles have on players.

The injuries from "two bad facial injuries from two different high tackles" occurred in 2018 and 2022.
