MEOLA: NANCY TO BE A TOP FIT
Irish Daily Star
|December 05, 2025
THE blazing intensity of the Old Firm pressure pot might just be about to hit Wilfried Nancy.
But US legendary goalkeeper Tony Meola insists the Frenchman won't be burned by the ferocity of the madness.
Not after living the 'Hell is Real' derby in the MLS. The Columbus Crew v FC Cincinnati showdown that's among the closest the States has to Glasgow's melting pot mayhem.
Meola accepts nothing across the pond can touch the history and worldwide draw of Celtic v Rangers.
But the 100-cap former US No.1 says it's wrong to think of the American equivalents as a tea party in comparison - with the Hell is Real clash among the top three MLS showpiece rivalries.
Meola has seen Nancy's work at close quarters for the past four years. He's regularly interviewed the newly installed Celtic boss in his role as an MLS commentator.
And he reckons the 48-year-old is made for the top job at Parkhead.
