Josephine murder 'suspect' arrested for a second time

A MAN has been rearrested over the murder of tragic grandmother Josephine Ray.

The Star can reveal that Hasan Ali Gori, who admitted previously to being arrested and treated as a suspect in the murder, has once again been detained in connection with her death.

Gardai believe Josephine, 89, was murdered in her own bed at her home in St Joseph's Park in Nenagh, Co Tipperary, in the early hours of August 4, 2024.

Mr Gori was previously arrested alongside Mary Ray, the daughter of Josephine — though this time she has not been lifted.

In a statement issued yesterday morning, gardai said: “Gardai in Nenagh continue to investigate all the circumstances surrounding the death of a woman, whose body was discovered at a residence at St Joseph's Park, Nenagh, Co Tipperary, on the afternoon of Sunday, 4th August 2024.

“A male in his 50s was arrested today, Thursday 3rd July 2025 in relation to this investigation.

“He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.”

Speaking to this paper following their arrests in August of last year, Mr Gori and Ms Ray insisted: “We are not murderers.”
