ANY Corrie fans worrying whether a stint in the Big Brother house is a sign Jack P Shepherd is looking for a career change can rest assured.

I've been in Corrie for 25 years now... I want to be the new Bill Roache

Because the actor, who has been a Coronation Street regular for more than 25 years, has no intention of leaving any time soon.

In fact, he wants to emulate Bill Roache and continue for many years until he retires.

Jack says: "I'm not going anywhere. I think as long as they'll still write for the character and they like the Platts, yeah, I'll stay. I like it too much."

Bill Roache is the soap's longest-serving cast member, having played Ken Barlow since the start in 1960.

He is followed by Helen Worth, who played Gail Platt for 50, and Sally Dyvenor (Sally Webster), who joined in 1986 and is 39 years in.

Jack was 12 when he took the role of David Platt and is now 37.
