A SURVIVOR of rape and sexual assault at the hands of her friend's father has shared “scary” images of how the crimes affected her.
Iosif Ghergut, 50, of Caireal Mor, Headford Road, Galway, pleaded guilty at the Central Criminal Court and was jailed for five years and two months earlier this month.
He was convicted for the 2021 rape and sexual assault of Jade MacFarlane at a house on the outskirts of Galway city.
Brave survivor Jade waived her right to anonymity to name the sick beast, to share her “long, painful journey” and to share “her side”.
Jade shared a series of photos showing “raw and scary” snaps to illustrate the impact of the crimes she suffered at the hands of sick Ghergut.
Images show a distraught Jade after the crimes, while one shows the bruising left by her attacker and another shows an elated Jade moments after Ghergut was jailed.
In her message, Jade said:
"This has been the hardest journey I've ever faced. But sitting in that courtroom, hearing the words guilty, made the long, painful journey worth it.
