IRELAND FANS ARE A DRIVING FORCE ON A NIGHT FOR THE AGES AT AVIVA

THANKS to you guys for the most wonderful of wonderful displays at the Aviva.

Because drop kick me Jesus through the goalposts of life, I’ve never witnessed a performance like that on the homestead before.

I'm talking to the Ireland fans.

You were magnificent, all estimated 45,000 of you, screaming, roaring, urging, pleading, praying, among the recorded 50,717 in the ground.

You can take it as read (or even Red) that the other 5-10,000 were there to see Ronaldo, the stroppy little git — although I'd suppose he can be considered a bit of a ledge in certain ways.

But we have just been reminded that Ireland fans can be legendary too - take Giants Stadium, Rome's Stadio Olimpico, Stuttgart, Gdansk Stadion or indeed any number of stadiums in nations from Lake Geneva to the Finland Station.
