Garda stab accused on McGregor pub arson and terror rap

Cloverhill District Court was told Abdullah Khan, 23, was arrested at the scene following an incident at around 6pm on Capel Street in Dublin's northside on July 29.

The defendant, whose address in the north of the city cannot be revealed, was charged with assault causing harm to the officer and the production of a Tactix knife capable of causing serious injury.

The garda, a young probationary officer, needed hospital treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Khan's hearing yesterday marked the most significant development in the proceedings since he was remanded in custody on July 31.

He faced five additional charges and directions from the DPP which specified he is to be tried in the non-jury Special Criminal Court, which is reserved for terror or organised crime-related offences.
