GALWAY CLUB AIM TO RUN MINI STAGES IN OCTOBER

THE GALWAY Motor Club have applied to Motorsport Ireland for a permit to run a ‘mini stages’ rally in October after the postponement of the Corrib Oil Galway International Rally in February due to the aftereffects of Storm Eowyn.

The Motorsport Ireland Council are debating the request to run a one-day rally after the Cork 20, the final round of the 2025 ITRC.

As it’s a ‘mini stages’ event, no R5 cars, which dominate the ITRC, would run, thus the Galway Rally will not be classified as an International event and will not be part of the tarmac championship this year.

That has reduced the series to six instead of seven rounds, with next month's Ulster Rally and September's Cork 20 wrapping up the 2025 championship, currently being led by Callum Devine.
