Father killed in road crash was driving at 140kph

A DAD-OF-THREE was driving at 140kph when his car hit the back wheel of a tractor and veered into an oncoming van, killing him.

The inquest into the death of PJ Whitty heard he "contributed a large part" to the collision involving a car, a tractor and a van.

The incident happened on the Wexford to New Ross road outside Ballinaboola, Wexford, on February 22, 2023.

Mr Whitty's daughters, aged six and nine, sustained serious injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
