'END GUARDIANSHIP FOR KILLER PARENTS'

THE brother of Valerie French is to make a submission to the Justice Committee backing the amendment of legislation for parents who kill their child's other parent to lose guardianship.
Ms French's husband James Kilroy assaulted and killed her at her house in Kilbree Lower outside Castlebar in Co Mayo.
Kilroy pleaded not guilty to mother-of-three Ms French's murder by reason of insanity.
However, following the collapse of two trials in 2023, a third trial held in July 2024 convicted Kilroy of murder.
