There isn't a sport Far East hero Kate doesn't excel at

- BY DEREK FOLEY

KATE O'CONNOR is a world class 100m hurdler, high jumper, shot put thrower, 200m sprinter, long jumper, javelin thrower and 800m runner - and in that order.

That is to say, the 24-year-old is a heptathlete - and an exceptional one at that - having just taken the silver medal at the World Championships in Japan.

There has been a lot of running and throwing from the Newry-born girl right from primary school who would become accomplished at so many different sports to here. C'mon, nobody take on the heptathlon and pentaton in primary school, this has to be difficult!
