Rosallion shaped as if needing the run more than expected in the Lockinge on his return from a lengthy absence and he's the one to beat if coming back to the pick of last year's form when winning the Irish 2000 Guineas and the St James's Palace Stakes at this meeting.

The only minor concern is that he's arguably shown his best form around a turn, having also won the Jean Luc Lagardere at Longchamp as a juvenile, but it's not something that puts me off his chances too much.

For those looking for an each-way angle, look no further than DOCKLANDS, who warmed up for this with a fine run in the Diomed Stakes last time, and he is taken to sneak a place in this contest having run the race of his life to be runner-up last year.

Ryan Moore and Persica kept Richard Kingscote and Docklands in for a few strides as he went past in the Diomed, and had he got out sooner, he may well have given the winner something to think about.

As mentioned, he was runner-up in this last year and whilst this is a tougher affair this time around, a strong pace at Ascot often brings out the best in Docklands, with a full record at the track reading 113222.
