Courts Service's report shows 45% drop in personal claims cases

One area that saw a decrease in cases was drug-related charges. In the district court, there were 27,783 new cases, down from 29,809 in 2023.

This is a 16.5% reduction compared to pre-Covid in 2019.
While road traffic offences accounted for 185,578 new cases in 2024, which is an increase of 8.6% year on year - it is down 18% compared to 2019.

Divorce cases applied for in the last year totalled 5,004, which is down from 5,218.
