CARLOS HAS HIS EYES ON NEXT ROUND
Irish Daily Star
|September 03, 2025
CARLOS ALCARAZ stormed into the semifinals of the US Open last night with a routine win over Jiri Lehecka - before planning his next round of golf.
The 2022 champion needed less than two hours to seal a 6-4 6-2 6-4 victory, and is still in contention to return to No. in the world next week.
The No.2 seed said: “If I think about the No.1 spot too much, I'm going to put pressure on myself, and I just don't want to do that.”
This is the first time in Alcaraz's career that he has not dropped a set on his way to the last four of a Grand Slam tournament.
He was watched on by Masters winner Sergio Garcia and Alcaraz, along with coach Juan Carlos Ferrero, intends to hit the golf course today.
