VLADIMIR Putin insists Russia should be “proud” of his invasion of Ukraine.

The dictator claimed his army is making the “responsible choice” despite 300,000 of his troops being slaughtered.

Putin urged Russians to feel proud of the war.

He said: "We did what we had to do, and we are proud of it. We supported our brothers and sisters in a firm, responsible choice.

“Today, defending that choice, our soldiers and commanders are rising to the attack. The entire country, all of Russia, is waging a righteous battle and working.”

The Russian economy has been savaged by Western sanctions.
