BAND OF BROTHERS EVOLUTION OF OASIS

Personnel changes over the years have played a big part in band's development

THE core of Oasis has always been, of course, Liam and Noel and their fiery, creative relationship. But Oasis has always been a band and the importance of the other musicians they've worked with shouldn't be underestimated

Here's a rundown of the various bandmates that have been part of Oasis over the years.

Liam Gallagher

Lead vocals, tambourine

"I see myself as one of the f***ing true great rock 'n' roll singers on the planet."

So, would anyone disagree?

In the pantheon of Great Britain's musical greats, where does William John Paul Gallagher lie? You would have to put up a good argument to keep him out of the top three...

He grew into music in his formative school years, and a 1988 Stone Roses concert was the lightbulb moment: "My favourite gig of all time, changed me life."

Liam joined his mates Paul Arthurs and Paul McGuigan in The Rain as front man and singer, but they needed more, which arrived in the form of elder brother Noel.

That was the upward curve starting at pace, and once Oasis were spotted and signed to Creation Records, Liam never looked back.

When Oasis ran its course and he and Noel went their separate ways, he soon announced his latest musical offering: Beady Eye, but after two albums, mixed reviews and a performance at the closing ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, Liam called time.

In 2017, he ended his hiatus with his solo album, As You Were. The trademark swagger and poise was back with Wall of Glass, his first single.

Three solo albums, regular tours and an album in collaboration with former Stone Roses guitarist John Squire followed and his final gig was at his own Liam Gallagher Malta Weekender in September last year.

Noel Gallagher

Guitar, vocals

"What inspires me to write music? It's just what I do. And I'm brilliant at it!"
