THE pint of plain has been recognised as one of mankind's greatest achievements - and granted a precious spot in humanity's 'Doomsday Vault'.

It will prevent its secrets being lost in an apocalypse, with the history of the Black Stuff set to be preserved for a thousand years in the home of the white stuff in the Arctic Circle.

All the trade secrets of the 267-year history of the House of Guinness have been accepted into the 'World Archive' on the remote Norwegian island of Svalbard near the North Pole.
