Dual star O'Connor urges children to try as many sports as they can

- MARK McCADDEN

DUAL sports star Amy O'Connor has some very simple advice for parents to keep their kids active for as long as possible.

The Cork camogie star also played football at an elite level when she represented Ireland and was part of the squad that reached the semi-finals of the 2014 European Under-19 Championships.

She tried her hand at many more sports during his childhood, before deciding that camogie was the game for her.

And she reckons children have a better chance of playing sports for longer if they "try everything" - rather than picking just one or two sports from an early age.

With participation drop-off a huge problem, particularly for kids in their teens, it's more important than ever to find ways to keep youngsters in some form of physical activity.

advice would be just to give it a go. Try everything and you will eventually find what you love, O'Connor told Fitter Happier.

"You don't necessarily have to find something that you are good at, you just have to find something that you love and it will eventually come.

"It doesn't really matter what kids are doing, as long as they are doing something that's active.
