Alien search to be spaced out by NASA cuts

BOFFINS fear that US President Donald Trump's proposed cuts to NASA could stop us from finding aliens.

Trump could slash the space agency's science programme, which has about 70 active missions, by nearly half, a cut of about €3 billion.

Casey Dreier, the chief of space policy at the Planetary Society, said the impact would be “calamitous” as dozens of spacecrafts would “have to be terminated” for lack of funds.

He said they would be “left to tumble aimlessly in space”.

His warning comes after the White House shared with NASA a draft of its budget request for the agency.
