Ireland helping to hold frontline in climate funding

Aid life buoy in wake of Trump

THE dismantling of the USAID network by US president Donald Trump and Elon Musk is still reverberating around the developing world.

The decision pulled the plug on funds and workers that were helping some of the most desperate people on the planet.

In the area of climate action, the move also destroyed the kind of projects that are helping keep people in their home countries and prevent them joining the flood of refugees to the US and European borders.

Ireland is among the countries that is stepping up to hold the frontline of the world' aid safety net.

Minister of State with responsibility for International Development and Diaspora, Neale Richmond, has launched Ireland's Climate and Environmental Finance Report 2023.

FOCUS

The report describes the levels, channels and focus of funding provided by the Irish Government to support climate action and environmental protection in developing countries.
