Shock as Reds ace and brother killed in car crash
HAPPINESS radiating across their faces, Diogo Jota and wife Rute pose for a wedding photo with their three children.
But the joy that day brought and a family future vanished in the blink of an eye when the Liverpool star died in a car crash along with his brother Andre Silva yesterday.
Delighted Rute had shared snaps of the wedding, which was less than two weeks ago, and wrote: "My dream come true." Diogo replied: "I'm the lucky one." The shocking tragedy plunged the football world into mourning, with heartfelt tributes revealing how much the 28-year-old was loved by team-mates, fans and even rivals alike.
Supporters of other clubs put their differences aside to join Reds followers at Anfield laying flowers.
Diogo and footballer Andre, 26, were driving through Spain in a €200,000 Lamborghini when it left the road and burst into flames after a tyre blew out.
The pair were heading to Santander to catch a ferry to the UK, where the Portugal midfielder was due to join Liverpool for pre-season training on Monday.
DREAM
Doctors had warned him against flying due to a recent lung operation.
