ULSTER WIN EXTRA SPECIAL FOR BEGGAN

SCOTSTOWN hero Rory Beggan says he's still a little 'jealous' despite finally getting over the line in Ulster.

- BY PAUL KEANE

The Monaghan goalkeeper blasted a whopping 11 points in his club’s dramatic extra-time provincial final win over Kilcoo on Sunday.

Beggan was named Man of the Match, just like his Dad, Brendan, was when the club won its previous Ulster final in 1989.

But there was plenty of ‘heartache’ along the way with Rory coming up short in Ulster finals in 2015, 2018 and 2023.

The former All-Star said the club's stable of rising stars who are just in the door are so lucky to have avoided all that hurt

Max Maguire, Tommy Mallen and Donnchadh Connolly have enjoyed strong seasons and all featured in the 2023 All-Ireland minor final for Monaghan.

Beggan said: “I don't think the boys know how important that was for us, what they've done for this group.
