Plumber is found... 55 years after note left in a hotel wall

ONE of the signatories of a lovely, decades-old note uncovered during renovations at a hotel has been found.

The Metropole Hotel, Cork, shared photos of a note signed by four tradesmen, which had been hidden in a wall for more than 55 years, hoping the power of social media could help track them down.

The note, dated July 1969, was written on the back of a piece of scrap wallpaper and read simply: “With love from Tommy Ross (Electrician), Jerry Higgins (Carpenter), Steve Casey (Painter) and John Keogh (Plumber).”
