TEMPS SET TO SOAR ON TUMBLE FRYER

THE sun is set to shine across the country today and temperatures are to soar up to the mid-20s once again.

Ireland's return to summer weather is perfect timing for the throngs of music lovers who will pack out outdoor gigs in Dublin this evening.

Iconic venue Malahide Castle's summer gig series launches tonight with English singer Charli XCX while French band Air plays Fairview Park.

Temps up to 24C are forecast to bring beautiful weather this week, in stark contrast to last weekend's deluge - and it is set to last for days, Met Eireann has stated.

The country has not had a warm spell since last month's record-breaking sunshine, but the national weather service says sunny days are coming.

The respite follows days of thunderstorm warnings for several counties and flooded roads and danger signs at local swim baths in parts of the country.

A Met Eireann spokesperson said: "Lots of dry and fine weather is due this week"

The forecaster added: "[Today] will be largely dry, fine and sunny across the country by evening.
