Cops talk to promising sportsman No arrests yet but probe set to advance
A PROMISING sportsman is the prime suspect for the one-punch killing of this young man, it has emerged.
Sources told us gardai have already identified and spoken to the suspect over the murder of Ryan Weir Gibbons - but he has not yet been arrested.
However, the sources also told us they expected a development in the inquiry into Mr Weir Gibbons’ murder in Kildare Town to happen in the coming days.
“Gardai know who they need to talk to,” a source told us.
We have also established that the suspect, who has no criminal convictions and comes from a well-respected family, went to gardai moments after last Sunday's incident.
The attack happened on McGee Terrace in Kildare town at around 3am and sources tell us the suspect and innocent associates who were with him performed CPR on Mr Weir Gibbons once it became clear he was seriously injured.
