Heimir hails hero after Parrott's hat-trick sends Irish into play-offs

HEIMIR HALLGRÍMSSON paid tribute to Troy Parrott after the Dubliner's last-gasp World Cup heroics in Budapest yesterday.

Parrott's sensational hat-trick earned Ireland a remarkable comeback win and secured a spot in next March's World Cup playoffs — with the draw taking place on Thursday in Zurich.

Hallgrímsson said: "It's difficult not to give credit to a player that scores three goals in an important game like this one.

"I normally don't take players out of the equation.
