Sharlene coped with grief thanks to Tipp hurler Mikey

ELITE athlete Sharlene Mawdsley has opened up about the untimely passing of her father, explaining how she has coped with her grief and how her boyfriend, Tipperary hurler Mikey Breen, has supported her.

Thomas “Tucker” Mawdsley died suddenly in June. “It’s been a hard year, obviously we are still grieving him and missing him every day.”

She says the memories of all of the races he attended and cheered her on sustain her during the hard times.

“Those are the good times you have to bring forward. I try to stay strong for me, my family. We are all under that same impression of reliving all the great memories we have with him.”

Sharlene joked that he was her biggest supporter, but also Manchester United's biggest supporter too.
