Hotline deals with just two Puck Fair complaints
Irish Daily Mirror
|August 15, 2025
ONLY two complaints have been received by the animal welfare hotline over the treatment of the goat at this year's Puck Fair - down from 175 in 2023.
Animal rights campaigners and the public have long voiced concerns about the potential stress and discomfort for the goat in a cage on a high platform during the three-day festival.
This led to a review of the goat's welfare by Department of Agriculture officials, while fair organisers significantly reduced the amount of time the animal spent on the stand.
