Marcus battled throat cancer

RIDERS heartthrob Marcus Gilbert has died at the age of 67 following a three-year battle with throat cancer.

The actor, who played the dashing lead character Rupert Campbell-Black in the 1993 TV adaptation of Jilly Cooper's racy novel, died on Sunday.

Marcus had been in a relationship with fellow actor Lysette Anthony for the past few years.
