US House votes to force release of Epstein files... as Trump shows strain in vile insult to reporter

- BY CHRISTOPHER BUCKTIN US Editor

THE Epstein files have haunted Donald Trump for months, but his effort to keep them secret backfired spectacularly after the House of Congress voted overwhelmingly for their release last night.

Cheers rang out as the chamber backed a bill calling for them to be made public 427-1.

The move adds fuel to the scandal engulfing Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, as all documents bearing his name could become public.

"This vote puts the former Duke in even deeper trouble," a Capitol Hill source said. "The release of these files risks dragging every uncomfortable detail back into the spotlight." Earlier, on Air Force One, Trump snapped at a reporter who quizzed him about his links to paedophile billionaire Jeffrey Epstein.

Bloomberg's Catherine Lucey asked why he opposed the release of the remaining files.

Trump, who insists he cut ties with the disgraced financier years ago, pointed at her and replied: "Quiet, quiet piggy.

Footage quickly spread on social media, triggering widespread condemnation.

The scale of last night's vote places intense pressure on the Republican-controlled Senate, which must decide whether to advance the bill.
