Gavin might still be in poll position after all..

THIS day next week we go to the polls - putting an end to our biggest sh*tshow presidential campaign of all sh*tshow presidential campaigns.

- LARISSA NOLAN

But what will we do in the voting booths? There may be more upset for the political class in store, on the other side of it.

A SpoilTheVote movement is gaining ground as the clock ticks down to election day on October 24.

A surprising amount of people I know - who have never spoiled their vote - are doing it next Friday.

On top of that, the confusing Jim Gavin shambles gives voters the chance to put the cat among the pigeons by giving him their number one, even though he has stood down.

By the time he pulled out of the race, it was too late to take his name off the ticket.

It presents a unique opportunity for fed-up voters to engage in an act of civil disobedience.

After being corralled into a binary choice between Heather Humphreys and Catherine Connolly, no wonder they're disillusioned. The most recent polling showed nearly half of voters (49%) "don't feel represented by any of the candidates". That's extraordinary.
