Dundalk boss: We had to take pressure off Horgan

- BY MARK McCADDEN

Daryl Horgan led Dundalk to the First Division title and hopes to establish them in Premier Division

CIARAN KILDUFF admits he asked a lot of his experienced star Daryl Horgan last year - so he felt obliged to bring in a couple of heavy-hitters to share the burden this time around.

Horgan captained Dundalk to the First Division title and promotion in Kilduff's first season in charge.

This time around, as the Lilywhites look to reestablish themselves as a Premier Division side, Horgan has new signings such as Keith Buckley, Rob Cornwall and Conor Kearns to weigh in with their expertise.

"I probably needed to help him more, in terms of more senior players with him," said Oriel Park manager Kilduff.

"I think that little sprinkle of additions probably softens that load on him a little bit.
