French fries increase risk but baked & boiled spuds do not

FRENCH fries raise the risk of diabetes unlike baked and mashed spuds, a study says.
High intake of baked, boiled or mashed potatoes were not linked to a higher risk of Type 2 diabetes, but people who had French fries at least three times a week had a 20% increased risk.
Those who ate fries five times a week had a 27% increased risk.
The study looked at thin-cut fries, rather than thicker chips.
