Cats out of the lag...

Irish Daily Mirror

DEREK Lyng was happy with how his Kilkenny side roared back from last week's defeat by Tipperary after putting Limerick to the sword at UPMC Nowlan Park on Saturday.

Cats out of the lag...

The victory means the Cats finish their 2025 Division 1A campaign with three victories and the same number of defeats, as their defence of their Leinster SHC crown looms.

Historians were scrambling for the record books after home losses to both Galway and Clare but their need felt greater and Martin Keoghan's seven points helped them to the points.

As well ending any relegation worries, the result sends All-Ireland champions Clare - as well as Wexford - out of the top flight, while the Treaty are out of the running for League honours.

Tipperary are into the final, where they will face the winner of Cork and Galway - who meet next weekend.

"It was important to everybody involved that we put in a performance today," said Lyng, whose side open their Leinster campaign against Galway on April 19.

"We were disappointed in how we showed up last week, but it is a positive way to end the League."
