Bee sting victim had 'a real passion for life'

THE funeral of Kathleen Devine, who died after being stung by bees, has heard she "had an energy and passion for life that was infectious".
The retired nurse, 73, from Ballina, Co Mayo, was stung by bees while working at hives outside the village of Ballycastle on Monday.
Emergency services were alerted, and the Rescue 118 Coast Guard helicopter was deployed to airlift the beekeeper to Sligo University Hospital, where she died.
The Mayo Beekeepers' Association offered its sympathies to Ms Devine's family, saying she was an accomplished and cherished member of its community.
