ARMED POLICE OFFICERS WERE CALLED TO THE ROW
A “volatile” crack cocaine addict made his mother’s life a misery with his violent and unpredictable behaviour, including assaulting her during a heated and bad-tempered argument with his brother.
Serial offender Jon Barrett later kicked a police officer in the chest after turning nasty when he was put into the back of a police van. He was “hooked” on crack cocaine and had “struggled with addiction his whole adult life” but he was now keen to tackle it, Hull Crown Court heard.
Barrett, 36, of no fixed address, admitted offences of assault, causing criminal damage and assaulting a police officer as an emergency worker on January 12 last year.
Maya Hanson, prosecuting, said that Barrett's mother was at home at 5.35pm when she suddenly heard raised voices and went to see what was going on. Barrett was “fronting up” to his brother and they were shouting at each other.
