THE CHALLENGE IS TO BUILD ON IT TO MOVE INTO THE PLAY-OFF PLACES

- By BARRY COOPER

For the first time in more than a year, Hull City claimed successive Championship wins after coming through a breathless game at Birmingham City.

After 47 games, City ended that poor run and backed up their victory over Sheffield United with a 3-2 success at St Andrew's, which halted the host's 29-game unbeaten run on home soil.

In truth, the scoreline only tells part of a story that takes some telling given the level of drama from start to finish, and even beyond the final whistle, but all that really matters is the Tigers claimed a first away success of the season and moved to within a point of the top six ahead of tomorrow's showdown with Leicester City.

What a contest

City are nothing if not entertaining. And this game summed up the start to the season for the Tigers. As a spectacle, you couldn't take your eyes off it for a minute and it was box office.

Chances, missed chances, a red card, brawls, penalty shouts, challenges, incredible refereeing decisions, and so much more. It was a captivating contest and it's just a relief the Tigers came out of it with three points in their back pocket.
