Refill Jar closes Flemingate store but is still online

The Refill Jar in Flemingate sells dried foods such as pasta, cereal, and grains by weight and stocks environmentally-friendly household goods.

Hull Live covered the opening of the shop back in 2019, where its owners, Jamie Newson-Smith and Claire Louise Rayner, spoke of their passion for making ethical food choices more affordable.

In a public Facebook post, the owners of the independent business thanked customers for their support and held a 25 per cent off closing down sale in-store before it closed on Saturday, April 19.

They wrote: "After 5½ wonderful years, we're saying goodbye to our Beverley shop — with full hearts and deep gratitude.

"What started in 2019 as a simple idea — to make zero waste shopping more accessible — has grown into something far more meaningful: a little shop with a big heart, built on eco values, ethical choices, and community connection.
